May is for me!

Yeah! May is my month to be hostess in my Traveling Circles Bee.

Remember last week when I was sorting it all out? Well it's all done and mailed out.

I am requesting my girls to each do a black and white dresden plate with a solid kona circle.
Here is my example block using purple.

These are the circles prior to packaging up the fabric so you can get a mini-glimpse of what it will look like with the pops of color.

As for the sashing, mmmm.  I have a couple of ideas, but I am not sure how I will finish it out so if you have any fabulous ideas - please...share them with me!

Sorting it all out

May is my month to host so this weekend I prepared my packets for my Traveling Circles Bee Sisters.

Here is a sneak peak of the fabrics and I have requested Dresden plates.  I'm excited about the blocks, don't get me wrong they will be great, but you know what...the piles of fabric are nice to look at too!

Yo Yo's

Have you made yo-yo's before? Well I sure hadn't. You see, that is the beauty of quilting bees. I belong to one called the Traveling Circles Bee and each month one member sends out fabric and instructions on what they would like us to make for them.  I have been working on 16 yo-yos. Funny thing is, I don't even need my machine, it's all hand sewing. I would have never attemped these if I wasn't required to. However, being the good bee member that I am, I had no choice.  I love the way each month brings a new challenge, and makes me step outside my box.  So Kelly, thanks for that and your yo-yo's are in the mail!

Just can't get enough

What can I say - I LOVE pezzy print. I have no project in mind for it, but I love it. I can't stop myself from buying it for my soon to be determined "this is it" project. Today in the post, I got some more and it makes me happy! What line makes you happy?

Sweet Apples!

Isn't this just the cutest mug rug? My pal, Lori, over at Adventures in Fabric sent it to me. Thanks Lori - I love it! I love it so much I just look at it. I don't want to use it because it is so adorable.

Wishing all my friends in blogland a wonderful week!

Bee Blocks

These are a couple of blocks for a couple of bees I am in. The first one is the spool block and Christine plans to use them to put in her sewing room, which I think is a fabulous idea! The second one is for Sunni over at Love Affair with my Brother. I must say, I'm not so sure about blocks with curves. This was a bit challenging for me.

Incoming > The Liebster Blog Award

Have you heard of the Liebster Blog Award? This goes to a deserving blog with less than 200 followers. I was awarded the Liebster by Jenn of Sewlandia. I love reading her blog and following the projects she is working on and so a heartfelt thanks Jenn for selecting me for the award!
The Liebster award goes to a deserving blog that has less than 200 followers. Now that I've been awarded the Liebster, it is my privilege to pass the award on to five other bloggers (this is the fun part!).

My picks go to:

Sharon at Sew Extreme who writes just like she talks and you can hear her enthusiasm while reading her posts. She will soon be posting about a challenge quilt she finished for her guild, so stop by and take a peek!

Ree at OneTwoRee who just recently got over her fear of zippers. I hope to follow in her footsteps and do the same.

From Marta with Love has a refreshing, clean and enjoyable blog to read. Her pictures are all fabulous and I love every single quilt she has posted.

Valerie from Between Quilts who just had one of her quilts featured on the 100 Days of Modern Quilting Week of Solids, has great style and just started blogging last September.

Deborah from Little Ms. Sew-Unsew who I have a sort of 6 degrees of separation with, okay 2.  If I said 2 degrees of separation though, you wouldn't have known what I meant - see why I said 6?  You see, she was in the For the Love of Solids Swap and her partner was Camille, who I know from the Fort Worth Modern Quilt Guild.  First, I just think her blog name is adorable and second, her eye for color is really good!

Liebster Conventions:
1. Thank your award presenter on your blog and link back to him/her.
2. Copy and paste the award to your blog.
3. Present the Liebster Award to 5 blogs that you think deserve to be recognized.
4. Let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
5. Have faith that your followers will spread the love too!
